As a rule of thumb, repair is the better value when a system is under about 10 years old and the problem is a single part. Replacement is worth pricing when the unit is 12 to 15 years old, needs a compressor or coil, or keeps breaking down. Florida systems run most of the year, so they often wear out sooner than systems up north. We’ll explain both options and let you decide.
